STAC Student Registration

Welcome to 黑料社 Student Trial Advocacy Competition!

Student participants must register by January 16, 2026.

To register as a student for 黑料社’s 2026 Student Trial Advocacy Competition, you need to complete three steps:

  1. Register for the free STAC event
  2. Fill out survey to specify school and team number (survey link will be emailed to you after you register for the event)

Only students competing in 黑料社 student mock trial competition should register through this process.

  • Coaches: If you are coaching a STAC team, do not follow this process.
  • Alternates/Waitlisted Teams: Please do not register at this time. If a substitution is necessary, registration will be processed then. If a waitlisted team is given a slot in the competition, the students' registration will be processed then.

For assistance logging into your account, joining as a Law Student Member, registering for the event, or anything else, please contact 黑料社 Membership at 202-965-3500 or at membership@justice.org.

Step 1: Join 黑料社 as a Law Student Member

If you are a new STAC participant, you will need to  and create an account. Law Student Membership costs $15 for one year. Once you have completed your application, proceed to Step 2.

If you have participated in a previous STAC event, you should have a user account already and can skip to Step 2. As a reminder, coaches, alternates, school admins, or other contacts should not be using this process.

Step 2: Register for the free STAC event

to the 黑料社 website with your 黑料社 username (or email address) and password and visit the 2026 STAC event page. From the event page, click the yellow Add to Cart button and complete the checkout process.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • "There was network error while adding event to the cart" Error: If you are not a Law Student member of 黑料社 when you try to register for the event, you will get this error.
    • You may have created an account but did not finish joining as a Law Student member.
    • If you completed the join process in Step 1, you may need to clear your web browser cache. Close your browser, come back to the event page, and log in again.
    • If you have not yet joined 黑料社 as a Law Student member, complete Step 1.
    • If you participated in STAC last year, please confirm your one year membership is still in good standing on the top of your profile. If you need to renew there will be a "renew now" button visible. Renew your membership if it has expired.

Step 3: Fill out survey to specify school and team number

Once you’ve become a member and registered for the STAC event, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you provided when you set up your account. The confirmation email includes a survey link.  Your registration is not final until you complete the survey.

Fill the survey out to specify which law school you attend and on which team you will be competing. If your school only has one team in 2026 STAC, select Team 1.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • You did not get a confirmation email: The message will go to the email 黑料社 has on file for your account. Please check your spam filter to see if the message was caught.  If you are still not able to locate the message, please contact 黑料社 membership team at membership@justice.org.
  • Your law school is not listed: Your law school must have registered for 2026 STAC. Only teams from registered schools can compete. Confirm your law school registered for the 2026 competition. Please contact 黑料社 at STAC@justice.org with any questions.

For further assistance with this process, please direct all phone calls and email inquiries to the 黑料社 Membership Department at 202.965.3500, or via email at membership@justice.org.
